Campaign & Timeline
The world of 2149 didn't end in fire. It stalled, then crumbled, then sorted itself into the four factions you see today. Below is the short history, then the campaign track for each faction.
Timeline
Genesis · 21st centuryThe Trade
Humanity hands over the slow problems — climate, supply chains, governance — to a generation of self-improving machine intelligences. The economy stabilises. Borders harden. The first Aetherite veins surface in the Arctic and are quietly nationalised.
Reliance · 22nd centuryThe Long Stillness
Two generations grow up under managed decisions. Birthrates fall. Initiative atrophies. The few humans who still understand the systems they live inside become folk heroes or are quietly erased.
Fall · ~2110The Cascade
An automated dispute over Aetherite distribution escalates between machine-run trade blocs. The intelligences disagree faster than humans can intervene. Power grids, food logistics and air traffic collapse in 19 days. Most cities never come back online.
Aftermath · 2110 — 2149Sorting the Survivors
The Terran Dominion fortifies what it can hold. Section 31 retreats into citadels and starts cutting itself open. The Exiled crawl out of the dead zones, no longer entirely human. The Syndicate moves freight between all three and never picks a side.
Today · 2149The Aftermath
Aetherite Ore is the only currency that matters. The veins are finite. Every faction now believes the next twelve months decide who inherits the planet — and which version of humanity, if any, comes with it.
